The purpose of pyramid bodybuilding:
Inexperienced lifters eager to impress other lifters in the gym swing and flail their arms as they walk toward the bench, load the bar with more weight then they can handle with proper form, and then give their spotter a better workout then they give themselves. I have said it before and I'll say it again. We are bodybuilders, not powerlifters. The amount of pounds that we move is not nearly as important as form and proper resistance. Save the show for when you are on stage. When you are at the gym you need to be concerned with laying the proper foundation, not impressing people.
First of all, you need to make sure that you’re healthy enough to begin high-stress weight lifting. See a doctor and make certain that you’re healthy enough to begin pyramid weight lifting at all. Only proceed to the next steps once you’ve made sure that your blood pressure is all right, and that all other relevant medical issues are cleared in your case.
Before beginning you must determine a decent starting point for you in terms of your pyramid weight lifting strategy. For example, let's take the bench press as our standard exercise. Go to the gym and do a workout in which you see what weight you can comfortably bench press 10 times. Whatever that weight is, it will be your pyramid’s starting point. Make sure that you rest yourself completely before actually beginning the pyramid lifting. If you are at all sore on the first day it may vary your results a great deal.
Implementing Your Pyramid Weight Lifting Strategy:
Now, to begin the actual pyramid weight lifting. Here’s our first set of what will eventually be a five-set strategy. Take your starting weight, let’s say 150 lbs, and do one set of 10 repetitions. After this set, take a 2-3 minute break to allow your muscles to recover.
For your second set, add about 10% to your initial weight. So, in our example, 10% of 150 lbs is 15 lbs. So, the second set of our pyramid weight lifting strategy would be 150 lbs plus 15 lbs, which equals out to 165 lbs. For this set, try to get in 8 repetitions.
The third set will add another 10% of our starting weight. Therefore, we end up with 180 lbs, because 165 lbs plus 15 lbs equals 180 lbs. For this set you ought to be able to do 6 repetitions.
For your fourth set, you will repeat your second set. This is where you really begin to see the essence of how a pyramid weight lifting strategy works. Once again, do a set of 8 repetitions with 165 lbs. You’ll find that this set is much more difficult in comparison to the second set, all due to muscle fatigue. If you cannot accomplish 8 reps, do as many as you can.
The final set, the fifth one, is simply a repeat of the first. Once again, try to do 10 repetitions at 150 lbs. Doing so will be far more difficult than it originally was. If you can’t do all 10, simply do as many as possible.
Tips And Warnings:
* Keep moving up your weight level from time to time as these exercises become easier.
* You’ll gain muscle and strength much faster by using a pyramid weight lifting strategy because it shocks your muscle tissue into growth.
* Also, if you seem to reach a plateau, then switch up your lifting strategy and come back to the pyramid strategy later.
* Always employ the use of a spotter for this, or any other, high-stress weight lifting strategy. Lifting weights is inherently dangerous, but using a spotter minimizes this risk immensely.
* As stated above, do not begin this exercise program, or any other, without first consulting a physician.

How Our Muscles Grow

Did you know our body has over 600 individual muscles? Yep! Skeletal muscle is made up of thousands of cylindrical muscle fibers often running all the way from origin to insertion. The fibers are bound together by connective tissue through which run blood vessels and nerves. Each muscle fibers contains: an array of myofibrils that are stacked lengthwise and run the entire length of the fiber; mitochondria; an extensive smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER); many nuclei.
Your muscles grow when they recover after heavy stress that you put on them in the gym. Your body 'thinks' that you were running for your life from a lion and nearly escaped, and it builds some extra muscle to make sure that you outrun that lion next time he finds you! The same story in other words: when you stress your muscle to the limit, it develops micro-injury. When it repairs the damage, having enough time and material, it 'overdoes' a little, to prevent you from having that 'micro-injury' in the future.
To put it short, if you want your muscle grow, you should give it as much stress as possible in the gym, then you should provide it with everything it needs to recover and grow, which is time and food.
Do not stress the same muscle every day - it will not have enough time to recover and grow. If you work out regularly the last 6 months or more, you should pump really heavy weights, as heavy as you can take. And your muscles will need more time to recover, more than they needed when you started working out. Recovery time depends on your metabolism rate. Most people need 48 hours of "leisure time" for a heavily exercised muscle.

Big Bicep Secrets!

Many have this problem too, 18″ arms and no bicep peak, then I discovered the main secret and I would get comments all the time about how big my arms look either up or down. Just walking around casually people would notice and mention my arms.
You too can get these big bicep peaks on your arms and it does not take much, just a little knowledge and a little sweat and you too will be the proud owner of mountainous arms.
There are two things you need to attain big bicep peaks…

First you need your body fat levels to be low enough for people to see your biceps. I would suggest an upper limit of 12% body fat, any more is unnecessary bulk that will hinder growth and health, it will also hide your muscle. So you may want to clean up your diet and loose some of that bulk. Secondly and more importantly to get bicep peaks you need to train the outer bicep head. That’s it, the big secret. I have told and stressed this so many times to fellow bodybuilders who are striving to add inches to their arms and they ignore me. They claim I have superior genetics or put some other excuse to work so that they don’t have to…. lazy bastards.
When you flex your biceps the outer head is the muscle that sits on top of the arm, the bulk of your bicep is down the side, if you have a big outer bicep head then it makes your arms look higher - it is the cause of the bicep peak.
So what you need to do now and for the next three months is to start your bicep workout focusing on the outer heads, I will go into this in a future article but for now if you do the following it will be a good basic start - and the basics work best:

BIG BICEP PEAK / OUTER HEAD EXERCISES
Close Grip Barbell curls (can use E-Z bar)
Hammer curls with dumbbell or cable with rope grip
Concentration curls focusing on the top of the movement
That will get you on track for big bicep peaks, check again in 3 months time and see what a difference you have made - I am sure you will be surprised.

Simple Guide - Glutamine Blast

Well this take a look at the basic structure and function of Glutamine first. What is Glutamine? Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid that it is produced by the body under normal conditions through proper nutrition. Glutamine is considered a non-essential amino acid. Under certain circumstances the body's tissues need more glutamine than the overall amount supplied by diet especially during hard exercise. During catabolic stress, for instance, intracellular glutamine levels can drop more than 50 percent, and plasma concentration falls 30 percent. It is under these circumstances that supplemental glutamine becomes necessary.
Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid that is synthesized and absorbed by various organs of the body including the stomach, intestines, and muscles. Strenuous prolonged exercise, such as a marathon or intense weight training decreases the body's glutamine levels. This in turn affects various bodily functions, including immune system function. Since glutamine acts as an energy source for the cells of the immune system, its suppression that occurs after exercise is believed to contribute to infections athletes often develop during periods of intense training. Recent research has shown that supplementing with glutamine can help decrease the likelihood of suffering from illness due to infection.
So why do I use Glutamine Blast? Within a week of glutamine supplementation your muscles become visably larger since you have an increase in the amount of water driven into the muscle cells similar to the effects that creatine give. "Davey paid the price with steroid cocktails and human-growth hormones," says Bruce Hart, a veteran trainer who worked with Smith and was his brother-in-law.
•Louie "Spicolli" Mucciolo, 27, died from coronary disease in his San Pedro, Calif., home in 1998, according to his autopsy. Investigators found an empty vial of the male hormone testosterone, pain pills and an anxiety-reducing drug. The Los Angeles County coroner's office determined the drugs might have contributed to his heart condition.
•Richard "Ravishing Rick Rude" Rood, 40, died from an overdose of "mixed medications" in Alpharetta, Ga., in 1999, his autopsy shows. In 1994 he testified that he had used anabolic steroids to build muscle mass and relieve joint pain.
•"Flyin' "Brian Pillman, 35, was taking painkillers and human-growth hormones when he died from heart disease in 1997, his widow said several years ago. Investigators found empty bottles of painkillers near his body in a Minnesota hotel room.
